"Enhancing Pollution Prevention in School and
Laboratory Facilities: Lessons Learned from
Mercury Reduction Programs"

What:   A web-based video-cast workshop. The
training will cover the risks associated with
mercury in schools, and the virtual elimination
of mercury from schools.  The workshop will also
emphasize the use of sustainable science when
teaching different scientific concepts to
students while stressing to teachers the
importance of minimizing the impact to the
environment from using certain lab chemicals.
The audience can submit questions during
conference to panel via email or call-in number.

Who:    US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
in conjunction with National Institute of
Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), EPA Region
3, University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign"Waste Management and Resource
Center, University of Wisconsin Extension
Program, Maryland Department of Education and
Maryland Dept of Environment.

When:   November 17, 2003 from 1 to 4PM Eastern Standard Time.

*The feed will be broadcast at high speed and 56k
bps so users can access the workshop by dial-up
modems or higher speed connections such as cable.
All viewers will need to have player software to

         Physical Location

         Main site: On the main campus of the
National Institutes of Health, Bethesda,
Maryland, in Room F1-F2 in the basement level of
the Natcher Conference Center.  (Capacity 80
people) (*Must have photo ID and register at the
guard station) (Public transit Strongly Advised)
         There will be other satellite locations
showing the video-cast check the mercury in
schools website for locations.
         *The workshop will be recorded and can be
accessed after 11/17/03 for credit (Must register
for CEU and CPDU credit).

Requisites for
Continuing Education
Units (CEUs) and CPDUs: Proper Advance Registration at
http://www.mercuryinschools.uwex.edu  and Verification of
participation on 11/17/03 via an email or phoned-in question or
reflection.
