Alan Hall's response seems to cover this question admirably.

I would merely add that if you are not shown documentation on the
inspections, you should politely tell the facility manager that you cannot
presume them to have been performed.  Then report it as not inspected,
perhaps with a foot note that records of inspections were said to exist but
were not made available for review, despite your requests.  It doesn't sound
like you have a friend in the facility manager, so little or nothing to
loose in hanging him out a bit, especially if you warn him in advance.
