I have never personally worked with this compound.  A G oogle search turns up several material safety data sheets.  The three at whi ch I looked that mentioned anything about flammability described thorium dioxide as non-flammable.

Can anyone tell me if thorium dioxide is pyrophoric?  I know that powdered thorium is.
