We found that Nomex works the best (expensive $80) for us. Below is a link from UCSB on the subject.

There are other option that are cheaper ($25) they may serve your purpose.

“Extra-Safe” Lab coats are Static-Free - Feature a Soft 3-layer SMS fabric that is fluid resistant and breathable. Feature a Snap Front and knit cuff and collar. This style is perfect for a laboratory environment as it has no pockets. Very comfortable! They are latex free and fire retardant. These disposable lab jackets are washable (delicate cycle) up to 5 times!

There are several suppliers of this type of lab coat.

Liquid proof is a tall order.

One of the challenges we’ve encountered is the liquid absorptive properties of flame retardant lab coats.

Does anyone know of a commercially available flame retardant lab coats that resists absorbing water and other solvents?

Thanks in advance,

-Russ
