Mary Beth, If they ever do an article on mouse bait, I'm all yours.

I can't do any reviewing now, but by the middle of next year we can talk again.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Calling all posters and lurkers to become ACS CHAS reviewers

All,

I am happy to report that we are receiving submissions to the ACS Chemical Health & Safety journal, but an interesting challenge has become apparent that I need your help with.

In theory, ACS's Paragon Plus collates contact information for previous reviewers and authors from similar fields, but since safety is a new publishing area for ACS, the database does not have many articles or people with with health and safety backgrounds.

ACS has a great resource for people who have never reviewed articles before called the ACS Reviewer Lab (https://www.acsreviewerlab.org/). At the end of this online training, you are automatically added to the Paragon Plus database. Now for the catch, the Reviewer Lab asks the registrant to indicate their specialties by clicking on predetermined choices, none of which address safety.

So, I'm asking the DCHAS community to help me go old school and, if you are interested in reviewing an article, send Kali (ACS Development Editor,
K_Miller2**At_Symbol_Here**acs.org) your first and last name, country, institution, email, and your areas of specialty. For example:
Surveys
Toxicology
Lab design
Equipment
Human factors
EH&S
Kinetics
Mouse bait (Monona's rat story still cracks me up)

Until the Paragon Plus technology catches up with the safety community, we will go old school and create a spreadsheet that I will search when looking for specific specialties of potential reviewers. For those of you who reviewed for JCHAS previously, I have your contact information, but not your specialties, so please send that information to us.

Thanks everyone, and if you have any questions, feel free to post them here or email me.

Sincerely,
Mary Beth Mulcahy
