DAYTON ‰?? Officials are investigating what caused a man death‰??s Tuesday morning after he fell into a chemical vat at Techmetals on Springfield Street in Dayton.
Dana Swisher, 60, of Union, was identified as the man who died at the business by Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger. The cause and manner of Swisher‰??s death has not yet been determined and remains under investigation.
‰??We don‰??t know what the cause of the event was,‰?? he said. ‰??I don‰??t know that this was an industrial accident or medical emergency.‰??
The Montgomery County Coroner‰??s Office and Dayton police are leading the investigative side of the incident. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also investigating.
Crews initially were called to the business just before 9 a.m. for an industrial accident, but it was later upgraded to a hazmat incident.
A 911 caller reported that a man had fallen into a 4-foot-deep tank, according to dispatch records. Fire officials later confirmed the tank contained liquid chromic acid.

Five people were arrested and several ounces of suspected fentanyl powder were confiscated in connection with an overdose death, San Diego DEA agents confirmed.
Three of the five suspects were taken into custody Monday at the California Suites Hotel on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. They were staying in a second-floor room where DEA agents confiscated the suspected fentanyl powder.
Fentanyl is so dangerous ‰?? 80 to 100 times stronger than morphine, according to the DEA ‰?? the room where it was found was deemed uninhabitable by a hazmat team. The room will have to have a detailed cleanup before it's determined usable, agents said.

Morris said. ‰??After stopping my blowing process, I see all these little fiber strands and go to pay it attention and it looked like fiberglass.‰??

a mysterious fire has destroyed the multi-million naira science laboratory of the Community Secondary School, Amagunze, in the Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Southern City News gathered that the laboratory section of the college was gutted by fire on Friday, with the building and facilities worth millions of naira in it destroyed.
A community leader, Ozor Nnamani, who spoke to our correspondent in a telephone interview on Tuesday, said, ‰??The cause of the inferno is not yet known.

CHENNAI: A plastic can containing unidentified chemical exploded, killing a 48-year-old woman in Sriperumbudur on Sunday evening. D Shanthi, the deceased, found two plastic cans that could each store upto 25 litres of water near a scrap shop and she brought them home on Sunday.‰??With her son Manesh Kumar‰??s help she cut the lid of the first can. Since the second can contained some liquid, Shanthi went to empty the can before cutting the lid off completely. Suddenly, the can exploded and Shanthi sustained severe injuries,‰?? a police officer said.
Her sons rushed her to a hospital, where the doctors declared her brought dead. Police added that the ground near the victim‰??s house had caved in for at least one feet due to the explosion.Sriperumbudur police have registered a case and further probe is on. Shanthi is survived by two sons and her husband Devamohan, a lorry driver.

MARQUETTE, MI-- RTI Surgical of Marquette is closed due to a chemical leak.
The Marquette Fire Department was dispatched Saturday around 8 a.m. to North River Park Circle on a report that a heat treat furnace had filled the building with a chemical smell. Firefighters found employees had evacuated the building and were outside. The area involved was filled with an orange plume and a clear liquid was on the floor.
Officials say due to the nature of the chemicals possibly involved along with the amount available there was no danger to surrounding homes or the general public.
Employees were taken to UPHS-Marquette for evaluation. They were treated and released.
A HazMat team identified the chemical and the source of the leak. Officials say it was Nitric Acid.
