Monona,

I'm grateful to your big mouth. I've learned a lot in the years since I have joined this listserv - in no small part because of your well-informed and detailed responses to many of the issues raised here.

Thank you and please continue :).

But the project is forever!
Seriously - this thing is never going to end is it?"

Rob and Ralph,

Thanks for the subject information.

All and especially Monona,

Please don't look at the stats and number of posts as, "Having a Big Mouth, etc.," but rather as contributions to the "Greater Good" of DCHAS on the basis of our personal and collective experience and expertise.

Thanks for 2021 and looking forward to 2022 Posts!

Be Safe, Stay Healthy and Happy New Year!

All My Best,

John

Thank you for the analysis. Really informative. I suspect the data miners will go crazy with these data.
Have a safe and prosperous 2022.

Back in 2015, I presented a talk titled "12,232 Thoughts on Laboratory Safety in 25 Minutes or Less" at the Boston ACS Meeting which was based on Ralph Stuart's and my effort to ensure the pearls of wisdom on the list are forever preserved: https://acsdchas.files.wordpress.com/2015/08/m3-toreki-12000-thoughts.pdf

At the time, that's how many archived posts we had on this listserv. As part of that talk, I had constructed a top 25 list of posters and topics by year for comparison. I couldn't remember how I automated that, so I decided with the new year I would figure it out again so I can start this as an annual New Year's tradition.

2021 had less traffic than the past several years: 1,536 articles. The total number of posts is now 24,833. Ralph wears a couple of hats, so it is no surprise he captures the top 3 slots by poster. The top 25 posters of 2021 were:

Name# of posts
Ralph Stuart178
Chemical Safety Headlines150
CHAS membership131
Monona Rossol58
Richard Palluzi56
CHAS membership chair44
Rob Toreki40
James Kaufman31
Neal Langerman28
Yaritza Brinker27
Jessica Martin24
Eugene Ngai23

John Callen18
Debbie Decker17
Jack Reidy16
Alfred Barksdale15
Dr Bob15
Peter Reinhardt13
Tilak Chandra13
Harry Elston12
Monique Wilhelm12

For the subjects, I wrote a script that figured out each topic and counted all of its replies. The one exception is the line titled (original CSH posts only) which does NOT count replies. As you can see, the # of CSH posts corresponds to the number by poster Chemical Safety Headlines above, and is consistent with a normally 3x a week headline delivery.

The top 25 topics of 2021 were:
