Dear All:

Kirk Hunter and I are organizing a safety symposium during the upcoming ACS Green Chemistry Institute's 26th Annual Green Chemistry & Engineering Conference (GC&E), which will be held June 6-8, 2022 in Reston, Virginia.

We  would like to invite you to contribute to this  symposium which is titled  The Safety-Sustainability Continuum from University to Industry: What Industry Expects of New Ph.D. Chemistry Hires

We hope that this symposium will inform the ACS discussions focused on safety preparation of Ph.D. chemists for industrial careers and explore the following context:

  1. “Safe–Sustainability Continuum” where safety serves as a starting point toward commitment to sustainability.
  2. Specific knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSA) related to safety and sustainability required to be successful in R&D industrial careers.
  3. Examples of programs effectively developing safety and sustainability knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

The Conference will feature over 40 high-quality technical sessions, daily keynote speakers, poster sessions, workshops, and plenty of networking. "Thinking in Systems: Designing for Sustainable Use" is the Conference theme, exploring how green and sustainable chemistry and engineering contribute to the development and commercialization of products to ensure sustainable use.

The Call for Abstracts will be open until February 14, 2022. To read more about this symposium and to submit the abstract please go to Online Call for Abstracts.

Please help us to spread this invitation and identify speakers who might enrich this symposium.

Thank you.

Marta Gmurczyk
