Thanks to all 74 people who responded to the CHAS members services survey over the last two weeks.

The interest level with regard to specific topics (on a scale from 1 to 5) are:
Safety culture: 4.33
Professional safety development skills: 4.18
News of laboratory safety issues beyond chemical safety: 4.14
General hazmat events: 4.07
Government actions impacting chemical safety concerns: 4.00
Political discussion of chemical safety issues: 3.33

These results are helpful to me as I scan the days headlines and I expect that we will be adjusting the search words and reporting categories this month to reflect these topics more directly than the current mishmash of headlines allows.

In terms of the professional skills are members are most interested in developing, the results are:
Chemical safety skills 4.38
Chemical risk communication 4.23
Chemical safety literacy 4.21
Chemical safety regulatory requirements 4.15

These results will help us generate ideas for our ongoing technical activities such as CHAS chats, workshops, the journal club and programming at ACS meetings.

One thing I neglected to include in the survey is that the CHAS leadership is interesting in identifying opportunities to partner with other ACS divisions to help organize safety-related symposia as part of their technical program. If you are a member of another ACS division and would like to help us leverage this opportunity, please let me know of your interest and which Division might present this opportunity.

Thanks for your interest in Chemical Health and Safety!
