Promote Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) within all UNCP facilities and represent management in Occupational Health and Safety matters. Conducts annual school/building inspections and prepares and distributes inspection reports; including follow-up activities.

Responds to all emergency inspections and requests and reports to committees and management. Investigates and makes recommendations to matters related to indoor air quality and environmental concerns expressed by employees.Assists the EHS director, senior administrators, principals and other financial managers/supervisors in emergency planning.

Prepares guidelines to assist financial managers and other supervisors in the development of safety plans for their respective buildings. Evaluates the efficiency of all emergency plans in the systems and makes recommendations regarding suggested amendments. Assists with conducting accident Qreports and maintaining OSHA records.Prepares monthly Safety Performance Reports; makes recommendations for appropriate action. Supervises and participates in accident investigations and evaluates accident causes.
Works with departments in preventing accidents and losses to persons and property.

Performs facilities inspections including review of Safety Data Sheets and performance of departments to ensure compliance with Right-to-Know Law. Prepares reports and makes recommendations for corrective action.Conducts or coordinates various training programs for employees and supervisors in occupational safety requirements such as maintenance of, defensive driving, forklift training, hazardous communication, workers compensation and accident reporting. Investigate and report on safety hazards reported by staff, faculty and students with recommendation for appropriate corrective action or abatement steps.

This position is Mandatory Personnel: Mandatory Employees: Employees whose presence has been determined to be mandatory to University operations during certain types of adverse weather or emergency events.

Minimum Training and Experience Requirements: Bachelor‰??s Degree in a Physical Science, Biological Science, Environmental Science/Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Technology or related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licensure. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
