Laura,

I contacted the Technical Service Department of MilliporeSigma (formerly Sigma Aldrich), a supplier of the subject compound (Aldrich #481718, CAS #13463-40-6).  The representative said that the correct glove is neoprene.  He said that you should contact directly a glove manufacturer for permeation, penetration and breakthrough data.  Instead of relying upon a chart, please eMail Ansell directly (customerserviceus**At_Symbol_Here**ansell.com) to see if their technical specialists would have any data.

In the meantime, Iron pentacarbonyl, as you know, is nasty stuff and should be used with extreme caution in an explosion-proof laboratory hood.

Good Luck!

All My Best,

John Callen, Ph.D.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have data on the breakthrough time for iron pentacarbonyl? It is not listed on the Ansell chart. Any advice on best practices for handling iron pentacarbonyl would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Laura
