The Desert Research Institute (DRI), the non-profit research campus of
the University and Community College System of Nevada, is pleased to
announce a new Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) position at their
Southern Nevada Science Center (SNSC) in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The
Laboratory/Occupational Safety Specialist will be responsible for
technical and administrative duties related to the DRI's comprehensive
EH&S program. The position is under general direction of the DRI EH&S
Director and though located in Las Vegas will also support laboratory
safety program activities at the Northern Nevada Science Center (NNSC)
in Reno. Key responsibilities include:

   * Working directly with laboratory personnel in support of
     implementation and continuous improvement of laboratory chemical
     hygiene plans and program requirements.
   * Developing laboratory safety programs and training for laboratory
     personnel.
   * Conducting industrial hygiene evaluations and safety inspections.
   * Assisting SNSC faculty in job hazard analysis (by helping them
     identify safety and health hazards and violations and recommending
     reasonable and feasible means of abatement).
   * Maintaining environmental and safety permits, filing required
     reports and managing other required EH&S records for the SNSC.
   * Serving on the Institute's Laboratory and Field Safety Committee.
