There does not seem to be many statistics in regards to housekeeping,  
but there are many examples of best practices to adapt or teach too.

One I have found that works across many facets is a 5S methodology. It  
is widely regarded as a best practice and is generally very easy to  
teach and enforce.

I have personally used it in various industries and found that it  
works very well.
