Suzanne,
I include the following section in the performance evaluations of my laboratory staff. The process of evaluation includes a meeting with each employee to discuss the evaluation results. This provides an excellent opportunity to discuss any safety-related problems with that employee.  ;I encourage you to refrain from thinking of your evaluations as "punishment." They serve an important function to protect your employees from exposure to hazardous materials and unsafe work practices.
  • Adher ence to safety rules and policies (The employee follows the departmental CHP and all pertinent safety rules and regulations and the employee enforces the safety rules in his or her assigned work area.)
Best regards,
Barbara

Wo uld like to hear how some of you handle employee reveiws in regards to safety. I know this is a touchy subject because you don=E2=80=99t want to "punish=" someone which in turn can result in under-reportin g.

We strive to partner with our clients, to make their problem our problem, and the staff here at PSI will continually do so on your behalf.
