I am organizing a safety-related symposium for the Indianapolis ACS meeting next fall.  This is co-sponsored by CHED and CHAS, and will be located in the CHED listings. 

Teaching Safety in Advanced Undergraduate Laboratories

Most colleges and universities have well-defined safety programs associated with the laboratory instruction in their introductory chemistry courses.  This symposium invites papers that describe safety programs beyond the introductory courses in the areas of organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, analytical chemistry and physical chemistry.  These contributions should describe how the safety instruction builds upon topics previously addressed in the introductory course(s) and extends these topics and explores new topics appropriate to more advanced students.

Deadline for abstract submission for CHED is April 1, 2013.  Please pass this along to faculty who teach these courses/laboratories.   It is particularly difficult to contact these cohorts of folks by other means and I appreciate your assistance.
