The Environmental Protection Agency is set to release a four- to five-year work plan for the Integrated Risk Information System program in about a week. At a recent workshop, academics recommended the program use systematic review approaches for its assessments. Structured processes should not necessarily be rigid and can make use of expert judgment, said Kimberly Wise, manager of the American Chemistry Council's Center for Advancing Risk Assessment Science and Policy.
