Do you find yourself unable to get Washington DC for the National Meeting?  No worries!  Midwest Chemical Safety is offering a pair of chemical safety workshops in conjunction with the Southwest Regional ACS meeting late this fall in Lubbock Texas:

“Research Without Rules: Process Safety Management for Research and Small-Scale Chemical Processes” will be offered on SUNDAY, October 29th, 2017:  RWOR expands general risk management foundations by applying principles found in OSHA’s Process Safety Management Standard to the research and small-scale chemistry community.  We will fist discuss reactive chemistry hazard identification, then dive into risk assessment on a variety of scenarios from the bench top to pilot plant and large-scale experimentation in a research environment.  We will thoroughly discuss change management and what change management should look like in a fast-paced research environment.

“Effective Chemical Safety Management for the Chemical Hygiene Officer: A Risk Based Perspective” will be offered on MONDAY, October 30th, 2017:  After an introduction to the Laboratory Standard and Chemical Hygiene Plans, we will cover introductory toxicology, laboratory chemical hood evaluation and standard operating procedure development.  We will then move to a deep discussion of hazard and risk then use risk management tools to evaluate risk for common research tasks and field work.  The day is wrapped up with a session of “Ask Dr. Safety” so that participants can get their EHS questions answered before they leave.

Course price is $325.00 per course, SWRM is providing lunch!  You do NOT need to register for the meeting to take the courses.

Registration for the courses are now open at https://swrm2017.org/
