Dear Colleagues,

The new year brings a new executive committee for the ACS Division of Chemical Health and Safety. It is my honor and pleasure to serve as chair of the Division this year. Sammye Sigmann is now the Past Chair and Harry Elston is Chair-Elect, with Mary Beth Koza continuing as Treasurer and Monique Wilhelm completing her 3-year term as Secretary. The full list of officers, committee chairs, and liaisons is available on the  a href="https://dchas.org/about-us/">CHAS website. Together, we are looking forward to a productive and exciting year.

As Chair, each month, I will share updates and insights. More importantly, I want to hear from you on how CHAS can optimize effectiveness and impact. I invite you to participate fully in whatever way you can.

2020 Vision. 2020 brings a perfect opportunity to focus on our vision of the Division. This Fall, a group of CHAS members will come together to update our mission, vision, values, and goals. We will create a new strategic plan to give us a great start to a new decade.

Share Ideas. A strategic planning retreat with thousands of members is not very practical, but we want to be sure to consider ideas, concerns, vision, and values of all of our members. Throughout the year, we will provide a number of ways for you to share:

Get Involved: In my experience, I have gotten more than I have given to DCHAS, and the more involved I become, the more I seem to benefit professionally. Submit abstracts for national and regional meetings, volunteer on DCHAS committees, and if you're interested in providing leadership as a committee chair or want to run for an elected executive board position, contact me directly during the year.

Learn more: If you haven't visited the CHAS website lately, check it out. You'll see updates on division activities, great resources, presentations from recent national and regional meetings, and so much more.

Thank you all for all you do to make this community so nurturing, supportive, and valuable. Here's to a wonderful 2020!

Cheers,

Robin
