Demystify:
Dear Members -
If you were able to attend the webinar March 13th on the ANSI/ISEA
Z-358.1 Eyewash/Shower standard update - thank you for your
interest. To summarize, at this point
the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) is looking to
simply reaffirm the standard with no revisions. In
order to do this and maintain ANSI co-authoring, they need
stakeholder consensus. APPA Leadership in Educational Facillities, a
stakeholder, is looking for input from others as to whether or not
they should recommend "reaffirmation" or "revision" for ANSI/ISEA
Z-358.1.
Among other things, reaffirmation without revision means that there
will be no updates or consideration given for consistency with ADA
regs, floor drain guidance, performance based testing, the use of
the word "tepid" (which means 104 F to a plumber).
Billie Zidek from APPA has created a webpage with links to relevant
materials - including the recorded webinar from March 13th as well
as the comments that were provided to ISEA in December 2016 about
items that should be considered in the revision. Please review the
materials at https://www.appa.org/isea-z-358-1/
Billie would like comments from others who would like to see the
standard updated by March 27th. To assist you with the process,
we have created a webpage
on the CHAS site with a template
letter to use. Please fill in your name and organization as needed and email to
Billie Zidek <Billie**At_Symbol_Here**appa.org>.
She is hoping to hear from as many folks as possible.
We, the willing,

little, we are now qualified to do everything with
nothing. Teresa Arnold paraphrased
