Inert gases certainly won=E2=80™t do anything. Viruses run metabolism only when they are inside a cell.
Heat, ozone, and UV all have been discussed, and some people have even done some tests. Will UV penetrate deeply enough? Will heat degrade the filter medium? What contact time would ozone need, and what will that do to the straps' elasticity?
Some small, idiosyncratic studies have suggested that some of these methods eliminate the virus, but most have not reported what brands were tested, let along the impact on fit.
