There was one surface study early on that showed a significantly shorter viability on copper than on stainless steel. that may mean something since copper also is a bug killer. Monona

Silver in various forms has been show to impact bacterial cells, as noted in the silverdefender link below. I have never seen anything suggesting that silver impacts viral viability..
This is what I was thinking of when I misread the word "antimicrobial" as "antibacterial" at the beginning of this thread.
