Subject: [DCHAS-L] CAS Makes Commitment to Enhance Laboratory Safety by Partnering with the Pistoia Alliance for Chemical Safety Library

Date: Jun 23, 2020 13:53 UTC

Reply-To: ACS Division of Chemical Health and Safety

In-Reply-To:

Demystify:

We did it!!   The Chemical Safety Library (CSL) - the free community crowd-sourced database of laboratory reaction incidents -  will have a new and expanded future!    CAS is partnering with the Pistoia Alliance to build a new submission and access system for the CSL.

I want to thank everyone in the Pistoia Alliance, CHMINF and CHAS communities who have supported the efforts over the past five years, with your contributions and your counsel.  In particular,
  •  Ralph Stuart and Leah McEwen, who have been there every step of the way.

  • Grace Baysinger, Peter Reinhardt, Alison Frontier, Bonnie Lawlor, Jyllian Kemsley, and Kathy Gibson

  • Big thanks to IUPAC for their support - and we  look forward to the outreach they will do when the new system is up and running!!!

  • This project would not have come into existence without Bristol Myers Squibb proposing the original project,  the numerous pharma who contributed significant funds to get the work done, and without the representatives from all the project team companies who helped curate and populate the database.

  • None of this would have happened without Mark Manfredi's dedication and expertise leading the project and Gabrielle Whittick's skilled project management.

Thank you all!!  -- Carmen
