EPA Extends Comment Period for Isothiazolinones Draft Risk Assessments
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is extending the comment period for five draft human health and ecological risk assessments for isothiazolinones. Isothiazolinones are a class of chemicals commonly used as material preservatives in countertops, food packaging, paint, and household cleaning products.
On May 14, 2020, EPA posted the draft risk assessments and supporting files listed below for public comment as part of the registration review process required under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act. The initial closing date for the public comment period was Aug. 13, 2020. EPA is extending the public comment period for an additional 90 days, closing on Nov. 10, 2020.
