Hello colleagues:

 

I thought I’d share with you an incident that recently occurred in one of Penn’s Chemistry labs.  On Friday, August 14, 2020 an explosion with fire resulted from what is believed to have been the ignition of flammable vapor from a vacuum pump exhaust.  Fortunately, the student was not standing in front of the cabinet when the explosion occurred and, as a result, was uninjured.
