SERMACS 2021 will be held in Birmingham, AL (November 10 ?? 13) this
year and will be in person (as of today). Catherine Situma,
Laboratory Safety Program Manager at Auburn and I have organized a
symposium and welcome abstract submissions from this group.
Technically, submission closed today, but the date has been (or will
be) extended to 8/16.
Our symposium title is "Risk Management in Teaching and Research Settings".
If you are interested in presenting a paper in this broad interest
symposium, please let us know (email Catherine or myself off the
list). We will have room for the keynote talk and 4 additional
speakers. Submitted abstracts may also be entered directly into
MAPS at https://callforabstracts.acs.org/sermacs2021
Additionally, we will be presenting a half-day workshop: Integrating
Risk Assessment into Undergraduate Teaching Labs and we
welcome you to sign up for this as well. This workshop is free to
sign up for during registration. The workshop is currently listed as
"Chemical Safety" or something like this and will be on November 12
for 4 hours - not 1 hr. We are working to get the registration page
updated.
We, the willing, led
by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the
ungrateful. We have done so much, for so long, with so
little, we are now qualified to do everything with
nothing. Teresa
