Demystify:

To follow up on John's excellent suggestions:

- Have your Legal or MTA staff write up a Material Transfer Agreement. You want to avoid being responsible for disposal 5 years down the road when the company goes belly up and abandons the building.
- Avoid transferring anything on EPA's "P list" (acutely toxic), any liquid mercury or mercury containing devices (thermometers, barometers, sling psychrometers, devices with mercury switches), any peroxide forming chemicals, any chemicals designated "Poisonous by Inhalation," any reactive when wet or "self reactive" solids. I'd also be careful about sharing any nitric acid, strong oxidizers (DOT 5.1), and toxic substances (DOT 6.1)
- Discuss with your Hazmat Shipping department about packaging, labeling, and markings for shipment and related exceptions; if transported in a State vehicle there might be some exceptions, but it still needs to be packed safely.
