Demystify: 

I had an inquiry from someone who was interesting in promoting his own alternative to the familiar RACE/PASS mnemonic that some places use for fire emergency response:

RACE - Rescue, Alarm, Confine, Extinguish.

PASS - Pull the pin, Aim at the base of the fire, Squeeze handle, Sweep side to side.

Does anyone know the origin of the RACE/PASS system? Who came up with it or first promoted it?
