Demystify:
I am not sure there would be an SDS if the as-sold container doesn't have any hazardous chemicals.  I am not familiar with the chemistry--perhaps someone on the list serv is or you can discuss this with a member of your Chemistry department...but looking at other similar systems, it seems like steel wool ion exchange columns and iron pellets may be what is in the as-sold product.  Have you thought of contacting a different company, asking to speak with someone from their tech service department just to find out in a general way how this works?  Here's another company https://www.gmt-inc.com/products-2/silver-recovery-reactive-materials/; another page gives a bit more detail (https://www.gmt-inc.com/products-2/silver-recovery-reactive-materials/silver-recovery/)

If these were used for an Art class, surely the instructor would be able to tell you what (besides silver) might have been added...they should know what brand of fixer was used, for example..

again, sorry you're left with these

Yes, I found those. Unfortunately, the manufacturer is no longer in business and I have not had success in my hunt for an SDS.

Hi Melinda,

Here's a link to the spec sheet; it has the manufacturer's number, possibly they can give you more information than "iron pellets" which is listed on the previous sell page...

good luck!

Hi,

I am in need of some input from those experienced with the Super Saver Steel Wool Bucket (Cat#: SSWB-5-SS), which is also identified as as Steel Wool Silver Recovey Bucket and often also identified with recovering silver from film development processes.

In particular we need to dispose of two of these buckets, since our contractor does not process them for the silver recovery service. To do that I need to know what the contents of the bucket were before they were put in use and what the likely contents could be after they've been used in silver recovery for film developing.

ANY experience AT ALL would be truly appreciated. (I'm also looking for info on how to subscribe to the HAZWASTEFORUM**At_Symbol_Here**lists.umn.edu, if anyone might be willing to pass that on.)

Thanks in advance for any input you can give us,
