Hi all,
Does anyone know if this is the largest OSHA fine proposed against a lab?
According to several combined sources, it doesn't appear to be in the top 10 OSHA fines ever (most are fatal explosions).
It does however appear to be the highest by OSHA in the state of Connecticut (according to one source).
What I'd like to know for a news article is whether it's the largest for a lab. The OSHA establishment search function doesn't seem to help in this regard.
Please email me directly on Friday if you have information on other labs fined by OSHA. I have a deadline to meet.
Thanks,
Jon

This is a lab that accepts samples from external customers for processing and analysis. For example, water samples from organizations that need to demonstrate compliance with their water permits. In fact, this was a State of CT approved
lab for performing these types of analyses. They are not part of a production process….etc. Hope this helps

Ralph - I noted that as well. I would be very interested to understand how and why this lab was accountable to 1910.1450?

Thanks for pointing this out. The proposed fine is just under $1,000,000, but the more interesting thing to me is that the citation includes both the OSHA Lab Standard as well as a variety of other standards. The structure of the fine assessments is very interesting in that light...
