If your landlines use an emergency number that is not 911, or is 911 but connects to a campus location instead of directly to the community 911 center, removing the landlines may require completely reworking your emergency call system.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] telephone requirement question
Is a personal mobile phone considered an adequate communication device for a worker in a chemistry lab or chemical waste storage area? My employer is considering getting rid of most of the landlines that we have in the labs, and I could not find a specific regulation on if landlines are required.
