This may of interest, especially since eBikes and eScooters are becoming quite common on campuses.
Electric bicycles and electric scooters, known as e-bikes and e-scooters, are becoming increasingly popular worldwide, especially in cities. An estimated 300 million e-bikes are expected to be in use by next year. But did you know that the lithium-ion batteries often used to power these devices can lead to fires or explosions?
To address the issue, NFPA® has created a new webpage featuring information on why e-bikes and e-scooters catch fire, what some jurisdictions are doing to try and better regulate that risk, and what tips people can follow to stay safer if they store or charge e-bikes and e-scooters.
Visit nfpa.org/ebikes to explore these new, free safety resources
