Russ:
Thank you for your very excellent comments concern the apparent changes at C&EN. One must wonder the origin of these changes and why.

After reading the editorial on the changes at C&EN, I provided the feedback
below.
You note in your editorial that change is never easy. Sometimes it is not
smart, either. As a 37 year member of ACS and active in the chemical safety
community, I am devastated that you would fire Jyllian Kemsley, the one
consistent voice in C&EN for chemical safety and in case you need reminding,
SAFETY IS A CORE VALUE OF THE AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY. For the
environmental scientists, industrial hygienists, toxicologists, forensic
scientists and environmental health & safety professionals, and others who
want to make their workplaces safe and inviting, Jyllian personalized those
impacted by chemical accidents better than anyone who has ever written for
C&EN. Shame on you for this change. To suggest that C&EN will now "focus on
covering the things that are important to you as ACS members and
professionals in the chemistry enterprise" ignores what many of us care
about. and those active in local sections and divisions already get better
information on ACS activities than C&EN provides.
