Demystify:

Hi all,

As you may remember, last August the original paper on this sparked a lot of discussion. Over the months since then, several colleagues at Stanford and I have had the opportunity to correspond with Dr. Patel and gotten a clearer picture of how Dr. Patel and his lab approached both safety in general and this specific incident. If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I’ll do my best to answer.

Sincerely,

Jack Reidy (he/him)

Subject: [DCHAS-L] A new article for ACS Chemical Health & Safety is available online.

From the abstract:

On August 23rd, 2022, the journal published a paper by Dr. Harun Patel and his colleagues. After reading the article, Research Safety Specialists in the Laboratory Chemical and Physical Safety group at Stanford University had follow-up questions, so we reached out to Dr. Patel as the corresponding author and principal investigator (PI). Over the past several months, we and Dr. Patel have had a very productive discussion, and we believe it would be beneficial to the community for us to share some of the items arising from our discussion.
