Thank you Ruth for getting back to me
What are you looking for in a system? So you have specifications? Is this for teaching?
We do make Raman systems and that is why I was surprised by your message.
We have a system installed at several universities which uses a 532nm laser with very small excitation - like a laser pointer. Would be happy to send you son information but w at to make sure it matches what you need
Hi, Rina,
Thank you – the company is StellarNet. I have not purchased this yet due to the concern about the paperwork and safety. I would be interested in recommendations of another vendor with possibly a less hazardous laser system.
Best Regards,
Ruth Ann

HI Ruth,
I have installed systems at several Universities and have not heard before of these requirements from vendors. May I ask which Raman system you purchased?
With best wishes - Rina
I am seeking advice first as to the safety of having undergraduate chemistry students work with a Raman spectrometer. They would of course be supervised. The vendor requires that the buyer sign a document acknowledging the hazards of laser
work. The document recommends that anyone using the instrument have a vision exam first and remove jewelry. Is there any advice on how to influence the administration that this is a safe activity for our students? Thank you.
