In 1998, HHS, the OSHA Directorate of Technical Support, the CDC and NIOSH published a document :

Selecting, Evaluating, and Using Sharps Disposal Containers

The document states :

"Standing eye level includes a 1-inch shoe heel thickness and a 56.3-inch eye height. Seated eye level includes a 0.25-inch clothing thickness, 1-inch chair seat thickness, 14.9-inch popliteal height, and a 27.4-inch erect sitting eye height."

There are some standards that use the term "eye level"  - any one have a reference as to what that would mean from a practical standpoint?  Most of us have a particular idea - but I am looking for a reference.  And, would think this may have come up in an FAQ.
