The surgical fire video: I just had one heart surgery and am going to have another in August. That's the same kind of table they prepped me on and the same basic equipment except for the canula. I found that REALLY interesting. Scary, but interesting.
On another subject: If they send you home with any of those blue surgical drapes, keep them. They are the best damn hand towels ever. They wash like a plate, dry fast, absorb well, never leave lint on you, and last forever. We also like their slightly abrasive feel on the skin. The hospital sent a bunch home with me to use when I had to change my husband's dressings. Between my husband's and my surgeries, we have a good supply. May paint the bathroom blue to match.

For those of you who have medical schools and/or hospitals, please recognize that in 2021 there were an estimated 105 surgical fires. The number has been reduced since 2000 from more than 500 to the 105, but that is still too many. The Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation has an excellent awareness video – free on its website.
Another medical hazard to control.
Stay safe out there.
