Robin,

Your comment that “we” will be discontinuing the list serve in favor of stove-piped groups is frankly, ill-conceived. We should be fostering general discussion not segregating discussion.

I would STRONGLY urge you to reconsider removing this resource.

Respectfully,

-Kevin

Subject: EXTERNAL [DCHAS-L] SURVEY: CHAS Chat and Communities

Dear CHAS Colleagues,

Please take a few minutes to complete a survey regarding CHAS Chats and Virtual Communities.

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WVF66ZZ

CHAS Chats

CHAS Chats are informal virtual meetings around a particular topic. Generally, one or two people will lead the chat with a very short presentation to introduce the topic, then will facilitate a conversation.

The survey suggests some topics and has space for you to add your own ideas. If you’d like to lead a Chat on one of the topics listed or something else, indicate it in the survey.

My goal is to schedule a CHAS Chat every other month.

CHAS Communities

New to CHAS, the concept of the CHAS Communities is to bring together CHAS members with similar interests. For example, there are a number of CHAS members who work for 2-year colleges, several who are embedded safety professionals, others who conduct research in academia, and so many other groupings. The CHAS Communities provide a platform to bring people together to discuss issues they have in common.

In the near future, we will be moving away from the CHAS listserv to a different platform that will allow the CHAS Communities to have their own forum, discussion group, place to store and share documents and information, etc. The new platform will also remove the delay in receiving messages, since it won’t rely on me reading every message before it is distributed.

Please use the survey to indicate your interest in the suggested Communities, suggest other Communities, and volunteer to lead a Community, if you are interested.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Best,

Robin
