Demystify:
1. My company hosts the listserv archive here: http://www.ilpi.com/dchas/about.html  Archiving has been on hold for about a year for technical reasons, but once I get around to dealing with some upgrades to the ilpi.com site we’ll be able to spend the time to rewrite the archiving code and run the accumulated backlog.

2. You can download Guardian Equipment’s ANSI / ISEA Z358.1-2014 Compliance Checklist here: http://www.gesafety.com/downloads/ANSIGuide.pdf?checkbox=ansi   It notes:

Maintenance/Inspection: Activate plumbed eye/face wash units at least weekly. (Section 6.5.2) Inspect all eye/face wash units annually for compliance with standard. (Section 6.5.5)

Same goes for showers. They also have a quick survey: http://www.gesafety.com/downloads/Shower-Eyewash-Survey.pdf

Disclaimer: my company is also a Guardian distributor.

It doesn’t say how long to flush for, but obviously this is something that will depend on your local situation such as water quality/hardness etc.  Also note that eye wash spray heads have internal filters that should be inspected and occasionally replaced if needed.  See, for example,  https://www.safetyemporium.com/content/guardian/pl-eyewash.pdf (page 2) for an exploded parts diagram of a Guardian GS-Plus™ spray head and/or https://www.safetyemporium.com/ap470-001x

Hello,
We want to start flushing our eyewash stations to keep the stagnant water from growing microbes. How often is it necessary to do to keep microbes from growing and for what duration should the eyewashes be flushed? Please feel free to e-mail me directly. I am sure this is something that has been discussed before I joined. No need to clutter up the listserv. Also, is there an archives I can search for the listserv to check if a subject has already been addressed? If so, how do I access it?

Thank you,
