Demystify:
KNOW YOUR WORK SPACE (it's more a life rule... but especially important in a lab)
KNOW WHAT ARE YOU DOING (read the protocol of the experiment, ask any question, research what are the risks involved)
Don't interrupt or disrupt others' activities...

I think that without rational thinking before enter the lab there is no active safety possible.

Greetings

Erica

Don’t eat the chemicals; no food or drink in the lab.

Wear appropriate PPE.

If a teaching lab – don’t do unauthorized experiments

If a research lab – always do a risk assessment of new experiments or modified experiments or follow existing SOPs.

So far, I've received nine responses.

Let's simplify the question in the hope that more will be willing to take the time to reply.

What are your top three most important lab safety rules?

Thanks  ... Jim

What do you believe are the most important lab safety rules?  The ones that you feel are so important that if you had a colleague who didn’t want to follow those rules, you don’t want that colleague in the same room with you.

When they violate these rules, they are putting themselves at risk.  They are putting you at risk.  And, they are putting the reputation and perhaps the future of your organization at risk.

Please send me your “Top 10” directly to jim**At_Symbol_Here**labsafety.org.  I will compile the results and share them with the listserv.

Thanks … Jim
