Demystify:
Patricia,

You can get historical ANSI standards from ANSI (for a price).  Another place to get old standards is Global IHS (also for a price)

Hello,

I am in search of information about the difference between the ANSI Z87 certification for chemical splash in the most current standard and those of the past. When did the ANSI Z87 standard start to require the D3 certification of chemical splash goggles? Did earlier standards require testing for chemical splash or did that start with the D3 labeling?

I am trying to get together a list of approved (by the department) goggles for use in our undergraduate teaching labs. The goggles that have the D3 designation are all very expensive. The less expensive ones meet the requirements of previous standards. I guess, I need to know the difference between these older standards and the current one with respect to chemical splash resistance.

Any insight you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
