We have a mishmash of systems across campus. I'll let others make manufacture recommendations, but if I was to start from scratch, I'd want to work through the following before I selected one:
Where does it alarm? Locally (in the room only); in the room and outside the room; inside, outside and at our Public Safety dispatch?
Are the local and/or outside room alarms audible only or audible and visual?
Who is responsible for bump testing/"regular testing?."
Who is responsible for annual/regular maintenance? Who's PM calendar does it show up on?
Do you have uniform postings outside the door on how to handle an alarm?
Is the room's emergency contact information available (and UP TO DATE)?

Hello,
We use liquid argon for our ICP-MS indoors and I'm looking to increase our safety by including an oxygen monitor in the room. It would be used to ensure if the argon tank releases pressure/vents, the room is safe to occupy.
We have two doors to other rooms to control access to the space and/or allow fresh air in, fans and a fume hood in the room with the gas tank for air exchange as well as building air exchange in the ceiling.
We will also be venting the release valve into the fume hood to avoid pressure release argon from filling up the space.
Any information or guidelines for increasing our safe usage of this would be appreciated.
