Demystify:

Some common issues are:

  • The meter was never calibrated correctly to begin with.
  • The meter is reading something else at a much lower value but showing a much higher reading due to sensitivity. Very common.
  • What you are reading and where you are reading it has too small a relation to where the meter is and what it is seeing. Much more common then you may realize.
  • The meter is wired incorrectly. Rare but has happened (grounding, noise, etc.)

I get involved in this all the time so feel free to reach out directly.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Formaldehyde detector issues

Hello,

I am reaching out to ask if any of you have had issues with wall-mounted gas detection systems reading inaccurately upon installation.

The model, which is an F12iS from Badger Meter, Inc., appears to be reading orders of magnitude higher than it should. This is based on the meter reading found by the IH from our insurance company. Unfortunately, the installing contractors say they won't come back to fix the issue because they believe that the meter reading and alarms are accurate.

Anyway, I am interested in learning about any experience you've had with this or similar situations and any solutions you found worked.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give us with this,
