Keith, you beat me to it. The isofluroane IH badge monitoring tags from Assay Technology are easy to use, and you can prepay for the lab analysis. They have a guide for selecting the appropriate IH badges for specific analyses.
Double check the ppm capacity of the badge, to ensure it’s within the concentration range.

I have used Assay Technologies laboratory for sampling a variety of waste anesthetic gases in the past.

We primarily use passive dosimeters to measure personal exposure levels. For area monitoring, we use a halogen leak detector to detect gas leaks around animal chambers, tubes, and nosecones.
We also work closely with the Vets to correct isoflurane machine setups.

Hello:
I am trying to find out what other universities are doing for monitoring isoflurane exposure (or other anesthetic gases). In BC it is classified as a reproductive toxin but does not have an exposure limit. We are planning to use the Cal/OSHA
PEL of 2 ppm as a guideline. Isoflurane is the main anesthetic gas used in our research animal units.
Thank you!
