This is the final call for nominations for the following open elected positions for the Division of Chemical Health and Safety leadership:
- Chair-Elect/Chair/Immediate Past Chair
- Secretary
- Member-at-Large
- Councilor
Please contact me by email or phone by July 9, 2025 if you are interested in one of these position or would like to nominate someone.

Note that each of these positions receives some financial reimbursement towards attending national meetings in person.
Chair-Elect
The Chair of the Division provides overall leadership. The Chair
- Term begins January 1, 2026
- Becomes Chair on January 1, 2027
- Continues as Immediate Past Chair on January 1, 2028
- Term ends December 31, 2028
- As chair, facilitates monthly meetings.
- Coordinates with the Committee on Chemical Safety and ACS Safety Programs.
Secretary
The Secretary manages the administrative and logistical aspects of the Division, scheduling meetings, coordinating meeting agendas, producing minutes, and maintaining written resources.
- Term runs from January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026.
- Expected to attend monthly virtual meetings and at least one in-person meeting per year.
- Is a member of the executive committee with voting privileges.
Member-at-Large
The two Members-at-Large serve as members of the Executive Committee, aiding the Division by coordinating liaisons with various outside groups, reviewing the annual report of the
Division to ACS, and helping the Division chair, as possible. (see pages 51-52 in the
manual)
- 3-year term from January 1,
2026 through December 31, 2028
- Must attend one annual meeting per year.
- There are two Members-at-Large, but only one is up for vote this year.
Councilor
The two Councilors are direct representatives of the Division with the Council of the American Chemical Society. The Councilor represents the Division on governance matters before the ACS, usually through
meetings that include Councilors from all divisions.
- 3-year term from January 1,
2026 through December 31, 2028
- The individual receiving the most votes will be Councilor and the individual receiving the second most votes will be Alternate Councilor.
- Must represent the Division at Council of the Society, which usually take place during the annual meetings. When the Councilor is unable to attend, the
Alternate Councilor will do so.
