Hi everyone,
I’m happy to share that Cornell University is hiring a Chemical Hygiene Officer (University CHO) to lead our campus-wide laboratory chemical safety program at a top-tier, research-intensive university.
This is a program-owning, university-level role with real scope and impact—focused on supporting cutting-edge research while strengthening practical, durable safety culture in laboratories.
The CHO owns the Chemical Hygiene Plan/Lab Safety Manual; leads lab inspections and injury/illness reduction strategies; oversees laboratory ventilation and fume hood performance standards; delivers training and consultation; and
supports lab design review and renovation.
We’re looking for someone with a master’s degree in chemistry or a closely related field and 3–5+ years of laboratory or chemical safety experience (academic or research settings preferred). Professional certifications are welcome
but not central to the role. No visa sponsorship is available.
If this sounds like a good fit for you—or someone you know—I’d encourage you to take a look and share broadly: https://cornell.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/CornellCareerPage/job/Ithaca-Main-Campus/Chemical-Hygiene-Officer_WDR-00056789-1
