Demystify:
Hello,

This is timely for us, since we just had an issue where a -80C failed and valuable materials and reagents were lost.
After a prior loss of a freezer, we had Sensaphone installed on all critical refrigerators, incubators and freezers (as well as potentially oxygen-deficient spaces, like our NMR lab and gas cylinder tank storage room).  However, a relay failed on a Sensaphone device and we were not notified when the freezer failed.
Sensaphone support has told me that this will always be a potential issue and an internal probe is the way to make sure to get an alarm.  There is apparently a flat cable that can go in the side of the door by the hinges and connect to a probe-we are looking into this.
I'm anxious to see if anyone has any other insight,

Shannon

Good morning,

If you are using monitoring devices for your 4C flammable-rated refrigerators, and these devices are able to either send an email or (better) place a phone call, I would be very interested in learning what you use and your experience with it.  I would like to be able to add monitors to ~6 flammable refrigerators while we essentially close down floors for several weeks for construction.  We do not have 'built in' monitors for these refrigerators.

It is pretty cheap and easy to do this for nonhazarous material refrigerators but my initial lead is turning out not to be either...

thank you,
Margaret
