Dear CHAS members,
If you are a faculty member or know someone who supervises research groups, mentors graduate students, or helps shape departmental safety expectations, you are invited to apply for the inaugural 2026 Research Faculty Safety Leadership Workshop.
This in‑person workshop will take place during ACS Fall 2026 in Chicago, IL, on Sunday, August 23, from 2:00–5:30 PM (CT).
Participants of this selective professional development program will leave with grant-ready safety language, a Lab Safety Plan, and other tools adapted from industry. The workshop will also provide opportunities to network with peers and strengthen mentoring and safety leadership skills.
A $500 honorarium is available for participants. Certificates of participation and/or letters of recognition will be provided upon request. Interested faculty must submit their application by June 1, 2026. Please see the attached flyer for full details. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
This workshop is proudly co‑sponsored by the ACS Division of Chemical Health & Safety (CHAS), the Industrial & Engineering Chemistry (I&EC) Division, the Committee on Chemical Safety (CCS), and the ACS Office of Safety Programs.

Regards,

Kalyani Martinelango
Research Faculty Safety Workshop Development Team member
2026 Chair, Division of Chemical Health & Safety
