While it was previously programmed to avoid overwriting HTML anchor tags, I realized it needed a much broader scope of protection. So now, when it detects there are HTML tags in the pasted text, it protects a wide range of things that shouldn’t be touched:

• All HTML head content (<head...> and </head>).
• HTML comments (<-- and -->)
• Javascript or other scripts (<script...> and </script>)
• Noscript tags (<noscript...> and </noscript>)
• Internal CSS style declarations (<style...> and </style>)
• HTML navigation elements (<nav...> and </nav>)
• HTML buttons (<button...> and </button>)
• HTML select lists (and options) (<select...> and </select>)
• HTML anchors (<a...> and </a>)
• Image tags (<img...>)
• HTML element id tags (id="...")
