This is a landing page for two general chemistry resources started by Dr. Robert Toreki while he was teaching at the University of Kentucky in the 1990's. I've also included some other resources here as well.
The Periodic Table Challenge is a blank periodic table that the user can fill in to test their knowledge of the table. It features real-time scoring, auto hints, and a timer. Can you master the table?
The General Chemistry Demo Lab was an effort to document general chemistry lecture demonstrations long before Youtube even existed. While we only ever listed five demos, the background, pedagogical relevance, and chemistry of each are thoroughly explained, making it a resource for both teachers and students.
While developed as an Inorganic Chemistry reference covering glassware and equipment used in typical inorganic chemistry laboratories, the Glassware Gallery is broadly applicable to many different types of chemistry.
Organometallic Chemistry is an important and diverse field of chemistry that deals with substances that contain a metal-carbon bond. Long before open source texts existed, Rob authored one of the first on-line texts that leveraged the power of hypertext. While not currently being updated, this resource has used as a course text at several institutions.
Structure World was an effort to document the basic crystal structures found in inorganic solids. While this effort stopped at only three basic types, the information is provided clearly and succinctly.
