The need to create and build with my hands coupled with detailed exploration of form are the components that keep me working. My fondness for clay, an interest in utility and methodical problem solving are driving forces in my work. A prior interest and education in plant biology trained me to see a problem, isolate it and resolve it, one step at a time. As a result, I enjoy resolving visual and functional questions within a series. Since each formal consideration effects the other characteristics of the whole piece, this may lead to an entirely new set of problems. Thus, my work and concern involves a continuous cycle of adjustment, change and innovation.
